Xiaomi has started selling the Electric Scooter 5 Plus in the Philippines, making it the first market to receive this new model. It is positioned in the Electric Scooter 5 series, above the entry-level and Pro versions, but below the Max variant. The model comes with the catchy tagline ‘go bigger, ride smoother’, and boasts 12-inch tubeless tires that provide a more stable ride. In contrast, all other models in this range feature 10-inch tires. Additionally, this model has a larger deck and a taller handlebar than the base version, although Xiaomi hasn’t shared the specific dimensions.
Performance and Features
The Electric Scooter 5 Plus can reach a maximum speed of 25 kph (around 16 mph) and offers a maximum range of 60 km (approximately 37 miles). It is powered by a motor with a maximum output of 900W, enabling it to handle inclines of up to 20%. Riders have the option to select from three modes, and they can access various settings and trip information through the Xiaomi Home app. The scooter includes a dual-spring shock absorber at the front, a traction control system (TCS), and dual braking technologies. Its folding design features a carbon steel frame and comes with lights on both the front and back.
Pricing and Availability
In the Philippines, the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 Plus is priced at PHP 30,999 (around £402/€466). Given this pricing, it is anticipated to range from £449.99/€549.99 to £499.99/€599.99 in Europe. Along with a product listing on the brand’s global website, support pages for the e-scooter have also emerged in the UK and France. The presence of these pages indicates that a broader release is likely just around the corner.
