Casio has just unveiled the limited-edition G-SHOCK MRG-B2000JS-1A, drawing inspiration from the original katana known as 'Juryoku-Maru: San.' Only 800 of these watches will be available around the globe. This special model showcases a bezel crafted from recrystallized hybrid titanium that replicates the temper pattern found on traditional katana blades. The MRG-B2000JS-1A is also equipped with Multi-Band 6 for automatic time updates, Tough Solar technology for power, and Bluetooth for smartphone connectivity.
Unique Design Elements
The watch features a titanium alloy band, known as DAT55G, which is set off by a unique Aogai shell inlay, echoing the lacquer style of the sword's scabbard. Thanks to microstructure technology, the band displays a vibrant color that shifts based on the viewing angle. Additionally, both the band and bezel receive a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) treatment, enhancing their scratch resistance and overall durability.
Exclusive Features
Every timepiece is specially engraved with the Japanese character 燦 (San) on the back of the case, using traditional swordsmithing methods. The G-SHOCK also boasts a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective layer and a 'Super Illuminator' LED feature for improved visibility in dim light situations.
This model offers water resistance up to 200 meters and incorporates a Clad Guard Structure, enhancing shock resistance around the crown and buttons. The MRG-B2000JS-1A is considered a premium watch, with a price tag of around $8,000 USD. It’s set to launch in November 2024 in Japan, retailing for 1.1 million yen, with each piece bearing its own serial number, making it a true collector's item. Plus, the hand-engraving on the case back ensures that each watch has a distinctive appearance, which is rather impressive.
