Ahead of its official release next week, the highly awaited ASUS ROG Phone 9 has been creating quite a buzz online due to a price leak from a Danish retailer's site. This leak suggests that the new gaming phone may come with a higher price tag than its predecessor. Additionally, it hints that a Pro version will also be available, both of which were recently seen on Geekbench showcasing impressive benchmark performance metrics, indicating new powerful hardware.
ROG Phone 9 Price Leak
The ROG Phone 9 was listed by the retailer ComputerSalg in Denmark, featuring a Storm White color variant with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This specific model is priced at DKK 9,838, which is approximately €1,320. In contrast, the ROG Phone 8 commenced at $1,099 or €1,099 for a model that had 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, showcasing a larger memory option. If ASUS has indeed raised the price while cutting down on RAM, this could indicate a significant increase for the new lineup. Given this pricing data, the ROG Phone 9 Pro may also debut at a higher cost.
Features to Look Forward To
The ROG Phone 9 has received clearance from the Wireless Power Consortium, suggesting it will support 15W wireless charging. With the ROG Phone 8 featuring a 5,500mAh battery and 65W wired charging, users can probably expect either similar specs or a minor upgrade in battery and charging capabilities. ASUS has stated that the design of the ROG Phone 9 will closely mirror that of its predecessor, with the main change being a redesigned ROG logo. Instead of the glowing ROG logo seen in earlier models, this new phone will sport ROG text in addition to ASUS AniMe LED paneling. ASUS has also teased the phrase “AI ON, GAME ON” on their official site, hinting at AI features that may enhance the gaming experience, although further specifics are not yet available.
Performance Expectations
This upcoming device is likely to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, marking a notable upgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. For those who may not know, the new chip provides a 45% enhancement in both single-core and multi-core performance, as well as a 30% increase in GPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, all thanks to its all-big-cores architecture. This means that the ROG Phone 9 should effortlessly handle even the most demanding mobile games, especially since ASUS is expected to pair the chip with an equally powerful or improved cooling system.
