Samsung has updated its mid-range lineup with the Galaxy A37 5G, a device that refines rather than reinvents the formula established by its predecessor. The handset retains a familiar design language but elevates materials and durability: both the front and back are now shielded by Gorilla Glass Victus+, and the phone gains an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. A glossy rear surface, however, remains highly susceptible to fingerprints, though the plastic frame is unobtrusive during daily handling.

Performance and internal upgrades

The Galaxy A37 5G trades its predecessor’s Snapdragon silicon for Samsung’s own Exynos 1480 chipset. The result is a clear improvement in system responsiveness and markedly faster utilization of the UFS 3.1 storage, making routine navigation and app launches feel fluid. Demanding 3D games still push the processor to its limits, and the entry-level memory configuration—6 GB of RAM paired with 128 GB of internal storage—feels conservative for the segment. The absence of a microSD card slot further restricts expandability.

Camera system and display characteristics

A subtle reworking of the triple rear camera setup brings larger individual pixels that help lift low-light performance. In practice, images can still appear soft, and daylight shots occasionally show a tendency toward overexposure. The front-facing camera is a stronger point, offering UHD video recording. On the display side, the Super AMOLED panel delivers vivid color reproduction and high everyday brightness, yet its HDR peak luminance falls below the previous generation’s figures, and the screen continues to use low-frequency PWM dimming.

Connectivity, battery, and charging

Wireless and communications features are comprehensive. The phone supports 5G networks, Wi-Fi 6, dual-SIM functionality—including eSIM—and maintains excellent voice call quality. Despite packing what is now considered a standard 5,000-mAh battery, the Galaxy A37 achieves impressive longevity between charges and can reach a full charge in under 70 minutes using up to 45 watts of wired power.

A refined value proposition

The Galaxy A37 5G does not represent a dramatic generational breakthrough, but it succeeds as a well-rounded model refresh. At its original full retail price, the device struggled to differentiate itself from rival offerings. With current street pricing now considerably lower, the smartphone’s balanced feature set and Samsung’s extended software update commitment make it a compelling contender in the mid-range market.
