HP has quietly launched the 16-inch EliteBook 8 G2a globally, bringing AMD’s latest Ryzen AI 400 platform to its premium business notebook line. First announced in March, the new model pairs socketed SODIMM memory with PCIe Gen 5 storage and relies on an 8-cell, 77 Wh battery—believed to be the same pack tested last year in the EliteBook 8 G1a 16.
Performance and physical design
Internal benchmarks suggest the EliteBook 8 G2a 16 will outpace its AMD-based G1a predecessor and the Intel-powered EliteBook 8 G1i 16 when equipped with the Ryzen AI 7 450. Despite the 16-inch footprint, the notebook remains comparatively light at 1.74 kg, while still accommodating a practical port selection that includes HDMI 2.1, RJ45 Ethernet, and dual Thunderbolt 4 connections.
Configuration options and regional pricing
European pricing opens at €2,329 with the Ryzen AI 5 435, 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and a 400-nit 1200p IPS panel. That same starter configuration retails for £1,285 in the UK. In the United States, the entry model is priced at $1,799 and ships with the Ryzen AI 5 Pro 440 rather than the Ryzen AI 5 435.
Stepping up to the Ryzen AI 7 450, 32 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD pushes the price to €3,399 in the Eurozone. A comparable US SKU currently lists at $5,558, while a 64 GB memory variant reaches $5,843. For the moment, fully configurable builds and 120 Hz VRR display options are not yet available.
