A successor to the Insta360 X5 has surfaced through a retailer listing, revealing a redesigned camera with updated recording capabilities and a higher price tag.

A More Compact Form Factor

The upcoming Insta360 X6 abandons the elongated silhouette of its predecessor in favor of a significantly shorter body. The new design places the device’s dimensions much closer to those of a standard action camera, while retaining dual cameras positioned on the front and rear. A small touchscreen with heavily rounded corners is integrated into one side for device operation. Physical controls, including a shutter button and a power button, sit along one edge, and microphone openings are distributed across four sides of the body. A tripod mount is built into the bottom, and a compact LED indicator on the non-display side lights up during recording.

Higher Frame Rates in 8K

One of the key specification upgrades involves 360-degree video capture. Whereas the Insta360 X5 recorded 8K footage at 30 frames per second, the X6 reportedly boosts that to 50 frames per second. The jump allows footage to be slowed down to roughly half speed while maintaining smooth playback. Details on additional performance metrics—such as 4K slow-motion modes, overall image quality refinements, and battery endurance—have not yet emerged, leaving open questions about broader improvements.

Pricing and Availability

The hardware enhancements are accompanied by a price increase. The Insta360 X5 launched in April 2025 at €589, but the X6 is expected to start at €689 for the standalone camera. An "Essentials Bundle" package, which includes a set of accessories, is reportedly listed at €789. A formal launch date remains unannounced. The appearance of the device in retail channels, however, suggests an official announcement may be close.
