DJI has introduced the Mic Mini 2S wireless microphone system in China, expanding its compact audio lineup with features aimed squarely at professional content creators. The launch follows closely on the heels of the standard Mic Mini 2, trading some of that model’s mass-market simplicity for advanced audio routing and fail-safe recording capabilities.

Onboard storage and 32-bit float recording

The transmitter’s most significant hardware addition is 14.5 GB of internal memory, which enables up to 28 hours of direct loop recording. More importantly, this storage supports 32-bit floating-point internal recording. While the Mic Mini 2 is limited to 24-bit audio, 32-bit float captures a far wider dynamic range, helping prevent clipping during sudden loud sounds and preserving detail in quiet passages. For solo operators, this provides a dependable backup track in case wireless transmission drops.

To accommodate the added storage and processing, the transmitter now weighs 12 g, a marginal 1 g increase over its predecessor.

Expanded channel count and ecosystem integration

The receiver also gains a meaningful bandwidth upgrade. Where the standard Mic Mini 2 is restricted to dual-channel recording, the 2S receiver can pair with up to four transmitters simultaneously. This unlocks quad-track output, streamlining post-production for roundtable discussions, multi-guest interviews, and layered ambient soundscapes.

The system retains native compatibility with existing DJI hardware, including the Osmo Pocket 4 and Action 6, and continues to offer direct Bluetooth pairing with smartphones. Line-of-sight transmission range remains rated at 400 meters.

Battery life and noise reduction trade-offs

Integrating internal processing comes with a slight efficiency cost. The Mic Mini 2S transmitter delivers up to 11 hours of runtime, and the receiver up to 10 hours. When used with the charging case, total operating time reaches 40 hours, a noticeable drop from the 48-hour figure of the standard Mic Mini 2.

For environmental control, DJI has equipped the system with a two-stage active noise reduction feature. A weak mode targets indoor reflections and low-level HVAC hum, while a strong mode is tuned to more aggressively suppress traffic and wind noise outdoors.

Pricing and availability

For now, the Mic Mini 2S is sold only in China and is offered in several configurations:

  • Full kit including the charging case: 1,199 CNY (approximately $165)
  • Standard one-to-one package (one transmitter, one receiver): 629 CNY (about $93)
  • Individual transmitters: 399 CNY (roughly $59)

The Mic Mini 2S is expected to reach global markets in the near future, though DJI has yet to confirm pricing for regions outside China.
