A new leak has surfaced detailing the hardware inside Xiaomi’s first-ever network-attached storage device, the Smart Storage NAS. While the company previously confirmed the product will launch in China on July 01, 2026, and showed off its overall design, official specifications remain under wraps.
Engineering Sample Points to Realtek Platform
According to an unverified report, an engineering sample of the Xiaomi NAS is built around the Realtek RTD1619B processor, a 4-core chip also found inside Synology’s DiskStation DS223j. In this sample configuration, the SoC is reportedly paired with 2 GB of DDR3L RAM and 8 GB of internal flash storage. The unit offers two drive bays with room for up to 40 TB of combined capacity.
Notably, the same source indicates the prototype shipped with a single gigabit Ethernet port, though expectations suggest the final retail version should include at least one 2.5GbE port for faster wired connectivity. It remains unclear whether the engineering sample fully reflects the specifications of the shipping product.
Three Configurations and Early Pricing
Xiaomi has already shared that the Smart Storage NAS will be sold in three storage configurations: 4 TB, 8 TB, and 16 TB. During the crowdfunding phase, the base 4 TB model will carry a price tag of CNY 2,299, roughly $338 at current exchange rates. The company has showcased a sleek, minimalistic chassis but has not yet clarified whether the units themselves will be sold as populated systems or as diskless enclosures. Separately, an earlier report suggested the NAS will support both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA drives, which broadens its compatibility for users who want to bring their own storage.
