The Punkt. MC03 is, as per the manufacturer, a smartphone that emphasizes user privacy significantly more than regular Android phones. It operates on AphyOS, a unique operating system, which is not free after the initial year. AphyOS is built on an Android base and claims to keep user data private while offering system-level access. However, if you don’t maintain an active subscription, costing a minimum of €10, both basic and additional functions will be disabled, making the device much less usable. On the bright side, this subscription includes a VPN service.

    Features and Specs

This smartphone comes with a fairly updated array of features, even though it does not fall into the high-end category. It is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor and 8 GB of RAM. The device sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen, boasting a resolution of 2436 x 1080, a refresh rate that peaks at 120 Hz, and brightness levels reaching 550 cd/m². The phone weighs in at 240 grams and has a 64 MP main camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a 32 MP secondary camera.

    Connectivity and Battery

With support for a nano SIM and an eSIM, this smartphone also has a removable battery that charges at a maximum of 30 watts via wired methods and 15 watts wirelessly. It reportedly meets IP68 standards, which suggest it is entirely dust-proof and can endure being submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes.

The MC03 is now up for pre-order, priced at €699, with expected shipping at the end of January. While we reviewed and tested the MC02 in the past, we were not fully satisfied with its performance.
