Around for more than ten years, Final Fantasy XIV is now available on various platforms, though it didn’t launch on all of them at the same time. It made its debut on PlayStation 3 and Windows in late August 2013, but it took nearly a year for it to reach PlayStation 4, and the macOS version didn’t arrive until late June 2015. Players on PlayStation 5 got access in late May 2021, while the Xbox Series X|S version is set to release in the last part of March 2024. Beyond its compelling story and gameplay, the game is also notable for its music, which features the work of Masayoshi Soken, who created a heavy metal band in 2014 specifically for the soundtrack.

    The Primals’ Music Journey

The Primals released their first album in 2018, followed by two more studio albums in 2020 and 2022. Alongside these three albums, they also put out two live recordings and are now preparing for their first performance outside of Asia. In about three months, The Primals will take the stage at Download, one of the most well-known festivals in the UK.

    Historic Performance at Download Festival

According to Square Enix, “The appearance at Download Festival in 2026 marks the first time the band has performed a standalone concert outside of Asia or the highly anticipated Global Fan Festival events that take place worldwide. They will join the ranks of some of the most legendary artists from the rock and metal scenes, as THE PRIMALS promises to deliver their unique energy, musical diversity, and a performance unlike anything ever seen at the festival.”

Download Festival 2026 kicks off on Friday, June 12, with The Primals set to perform on the Dogtooth Stage, and wraps up on Sunday, June 14. The festival will be headlined by Limp Bizkit, Guns N’ Roses, and Linkin Park, and will feature other major acts including Halestorm, Architects, Behemoth, The Pretty Reckless, Mastodon, Scooter, Baby Metal, Static-X, among others, totaling at least a dozen more.
