The Meowmere, which amusingly shoots exploding cats, is the first "bullet-firing melee weapon" in Palworld and the only item from Terraria that’s currently in the game. The developer, Pocket Pair, assures players that this is "just a small taste" of what’s to come from the Terraria collaboration, with more content planned for 2025.

    A Shift in Direction

    Beyond the new weapon, this update marks a significant change for Palworld, as Pocket Pair seems to be moving away from its Pokémon-like image. They are focusing more on incorporating elements from Monster Hunter and enhancing action RPG and survival mechanics within the game.

    Now, players will encounter fierce Predator Pals in the game world. These creatures present a tough challenge, but those brave enough to defeat them can earn rare resources as a reward!

    The update introduces a new feature called Expeditions, allowing players to gather supplies by sending their Pals on missions from the Pal Expedition Station. Additionally, players can engage in Research at the Pal Labor Research Laboratory to unlock permanent bonuses and rewards that will boost their base’s efficiency. Some existing buildings that enhance work speed will now also be available through research rewards.

    A variety of new elements are introduced in the game alongside new crafting and resource management systems. It seems that Pocket Pair is also tapping into the current indie trend of roguelikes, with the addition of a "Hardcore Mode" featuring permadeath for both players and their Pals. The update also brings numerous new weapons, buildings, and quality-of-life improvements.

Some members are frustrated about a new partnership when Re-Logic still hasn’t delivered the 1.4.5 update, which was supposed to include the promised Dead Cells collaboration from over a year ago.

    From the announcement, it’s revealed that 33 million PC players have downloaded Terraria. The rest of the installations come from other platforms such as Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PS Vita, and Xbox. Interestingly, there seems to be a large number of players on the Switch. Google Play indicates that Android downloads sit at "5M+," which is still significant but surprisingly lower than PC installations.
