Tecno has updated its Camon smartphone series with two new versions. The Camon 50 Pro and Camon 50 are the first entrants in the Camon 50 range. Both models offer 4G connectivity and are powered by MediaTek processors, similar to their earlier versions, the Camon 40 Pro 4G and the Camon 40.

    Design Changes

In terms of looks, Tecno has kept the design from the last generation while making some adjustments. The Camon 50 features a flat frame, while the Pro version maintains a curved frame. Notably, both smartphones now include a combined volume control button instead of separate ones, and the AI One-Tap button on the left matches the color of the device.

    Color Options

The Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro come in several colors: Moonlight Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, and Lavender Mist. The Pro version also has an extra color option called Ethereal Blue.

    Display and Performance

Both the Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro sport a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1208 × 2644, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a 2,800Hz touch sampling rate. The Camon 50 has a flat display, while the Pro features a curved one.

Under the hood, the two Camon 50 devices are driven by the Helio G200 processor, combined with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Sadly, just like the previous models, there is no slot for storage expansion.

    Camera Capabilities

For the rear cameras, both smartphones include a centered punch hole for a 32MP selfie camera. They also feature a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C Ultra primary camera with OIS, alongside an 8MP ultrawide angle camera. However, the Camon 50 Pro boasts an additional 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

There are multiple camera functionalities, including an AI 60x superzoom mode (exclusive to the Pro), live photo mode, and a water mode that enables video recording at depths of up to 2 meters. The devices also offer AI photo editing tools such as glare suppressor, glare remover, shadow remover, and a feature to transform static images into 3D.

    Features and Battery Life

Both models come equipped with stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos, an infrared blaster, NFC, Wi-Fi, and FM radio. They are MIL-STD-810 certified for durability and offer IP68/IP69/IP69K dust and water resistance. Inside, a 6150mAh battery powers both phones and supports 45W fast charging.

The devices run on HiOS 16, which includes various AI features, along with useful tools like a one-tap transfer feature for iPhones, offline find my phone support, and 50GB of free cloud storage for 3 years. Tecno promises three OS upgrades and five years of security updates for the phones, ensuring they remain smooth even after five years of use.
