Early MediaTek Dimensity 7500 benchmark shows big CPU upgrade

    Key Takeaway

    – Dimensity 7500 delivers ~20% CPU performance boost over Dimensity 7400.
    – Geekbench 6 scores: 1,243 single-core and 3,569 multi-core.
    – First device to feature the chipset is the Vivo S60 Vitality Edition.

MediaTek’s New Dimensity 7500 Brings Real Changes

MediaTek recently introduced its latest chipset, the Dimensity 7500. The new chipset is a direct successor to last year’s Dimensity 7400 and features ARM’s new C1 cores, but how does it perform. As seen on Geekbench aboard Vivo’s newly announced S60 Vitality Edition, the Dimensity 7500 does outperform the chipset it replaces.

    Comparing benchmark scores directly

So, like, the SoC delivers a single-core score of 1,243 and a multi-core score of 3,569 on Geekbench 6. Comparatively, the Dimensity 7400, aboard the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G, scored 1,050 and 2,939 in our tests. That’s a big jump if you ask me. Those numbers represent about a 20% CPU performance boost over the last-gen chipset.

Efficiency gains from the new core design

Most would consider that a solid generational leap in performance, and about on par with MediaTek’s stated numbers. More interesting, however, will be seeing how the Dimensity 7500 performs efficiency-wise, with the move from the Dimensity 7400’s Cortex A78 and Cortex A55 cores to the new C1 cores representing a multi-generational advancement in core technology. This kinda stuff always matters more in real life.

First device and its pricing details

The Vivo S60 Vitality Edition tested will, of course, be the first device to be powered by this new chipset. The sub-premium phone was announced days ago in China alongside the Vivo T5, with pricing starting at CNY 2,899 (~$430). That is a very interesting price point for what your getting. Expect more devices to follow soon with all these new features.

    • Single-core score: 1,243
    • Multi-core score: 3,569
    • Pricing: CNY 2,899 (~$430)
    • Phone: Vivo S60 Vitality Edition

The Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G can now be bought from Xiaomi in Europe and the UK. Introduced late last year as the successor to the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G (currently priced at $295 on Amazon), this new version features several updates. One of the most noticeable changes is the design, which is now flatter and does not have a curved display anymore.

    Camera and Charging Features

Some aspects remain the same, including the impressive 200 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 20 MP front camera. The charging speed is still at 45 W, but the battery size has increased from 5,110 mAh to 6,580 mAh. Additionally, the new Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipset brings only slight performance upgrades compared to the Dimensity 7300 Ultra used in the previous model.

    Display and Specifications

Xiaomi has also expanded the display size from 6.67 inches to 6.83 inches. With this change, the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G provides a resolution of 2,772 x 1,280 pixels. To enhance the experience, Xiaomi has included Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, a peak brightness of 3,200 nits, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 15 series globally, introducing five new mid-range smartphones. This lineup includes two Pro models, both equipped with sizeable batteries.

    Battery Specifications

The global Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G is outfitted with a 6,580 mAh Si/C battery and supports 45 W fast charging. However, this is less impressive than its Chinese counterpart, which boasts a 7,000 mAh battery.

    Camera and Performance Changes

Besides the battery, the camera has also seen modifications in the international version. The Chinese model has a 50 MP main camera along with an 8 MP ultrawide lens. In contrast, the global version keeps the ultrawide camera but replaces the primary lens with a 200 MP one. Both models are driven by the Dimensity 7400 Ultra processor and share a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The Note 15 Pro 4G is unique as it lacks a Chinese version, marking its debut in the series. It features a robust battery rated at 6,500 mAh and also supports 45 W fast charging (you can find the 140 W Anker Prime charger for $64.99 on Amazon).

    Specs Under the Hood

The 4G variant is powered by the Helio G200 Ultra chip, and it has a similar camera arrangement to the 5G model, except it comes with a 32 MP selfie camera instead of the 20 MP front-facing one. The display is a 6.77-inch AMOLED with FHD+ resolution and also supports a 120 Hz refresh rate. However, the touch sampling rate is lower, at 240 Hz compared to the 480 Hz of the 5G model.

As for availability, the Redmi Note 15 Pro 4G and 5G are open for pre-orders now. The starting price for the 4G model is €349, while the 5G variant starts at €399. Both models come with a base configuration that includes 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
