HMD Skyline: Premium Phone, Nighthawk as Affordable Alternative

HMD Global, known for its Nokia-branded phones, is reportedly preparing to launch a new mid-range smartphone called the Skyline. According to a Finnish publication, this phone is set to debut in July and will be available at retailers starting July 10.

    Pricing and Specifications

The Skyline is expected to be a more premium offering from HMD, with an anticipated price of €520. It will come in black, featuring 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, along with dual-SIM support. The device is believed to have the model number TA-1688.

While detailed specifications are sparse, the Skyline, previously codenamed Tomacat, is rumored to sport an FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will likely be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC.

    Camera and Additional Features

The back of the Skyline is expected to feature a triple-camera setup, with a 108MP main sensor, an ultrawide lens, and either a macro or depth sensor. For selfies, there will be a 32MP front camera.

Other notable features include a 4,900mAh battery with 33W fast charging, IP67 dust and water resistance, and Android 14 pre-installed. Additionally, the phone will have an under-display fingerprint sensor and stereo speakers.

    Budget-Friendly Option: Nighthawk

For those looking for a more budget-friendly option, HMD is also reportedly working on another device called Nighthawk, expected to be priced under €300.

The Nighthawk will share the same FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate as the Skyline but will be powered by a less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. It will come with 8GB of RAM and offer storage options of 128GB or 256GB.

The Nighthawk will also feature a 108MP main camera along with one additional rear sensor and a 32MP selfie camera. It will have a slightly larger 5,000mAh battery. Notably, the Nighthawk will include a headphone jack, and both devices will run Android 14 and feature stereo speakers.
