The Mihogo Air carbon fiber e-bike is currently in a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. As of now, with 45 days left, the campaign has already exceeded its funding goal of $514, collecting nearly $15,000 from its first ten supporters.
Lightweight Design Claims
Mihogo promotes the Air as being extremely light due to its carbon fiber construction, which weighs just 3.5 kg (about 7.7 lbs). However, when factoring in additional components such as the motor and battery, the total weight of the bike reaches 22.6 kg (around 49.8 lbs), classifying it as an average-weight bike. The assertion that the bike is “simple to lift with one hand” might be somewhat exaggerated. The Air includes a 250W motor, a single torque sensor, and a 461Wh battery that offers a range of up to 64 miles (approximately 103 km).
Enhanced Performance with Air Max
The Air Max features a more powerful 750W motor with a thumb throttle option for customers in the US, while the EU version comes with a 250W motor and dual-arm torque sensors. It is equipped with a 1,000Wh battery, providing the ability to ride with assistance for as far as 128 miles (about 206 km). Thanks to GaN fast charging technology, the larger battery can be fully recharged in just 3.5 hours. Additional highlights of the 7-speed e-bike include a Shimano transmission and a 2.4-inch IPS display featuring Bluetooth connectivity for smart notifications, navigation, and remote control through a smartphone app. The model also boasts an IP67 water resistance rating and offers several optional accessories for purchase.
Pledge Options and Previous Campaigns
A Super Early Bird pledge for the Mihogo Air e-bike is set at $999, which represents a 40% discount off the retail price of $1,665. The Mihogo Air Max is priced higher, with a Super Early Bird pledge of $1,199, compared to a retail price of $1,998. This marks the brand’s fourth campaign on the platform, following their Mihogo One e-bike project from 2023. While numerous backers have already received their products, some are still awaiting delivery, as noted in the comments section of the campaign. As is the case with any crowdfunding initiative, there’s no certainty that the product will be delivered to backers on schedule or at all.
