    Affordable 28.2″ 4K Monitor with 95% DCI-P3 IPS Panel

    Key Takeaways

    1. The JapanNext JN-282IPS4KP-HSP is a 28.2-inch monitor with a unique 3:2 aspect ratio, ideal for users needing vertical space for documents and spreadsheets.
    2. It features a resolution of 3840 x 2560 and offers 178° viewing angles with 100% sRGB and 95% DCI-P3 color coverage.
    3. The monitor has removed the 90 W USB-C charging feature from its predecessor, but retains dual DisplayPort 1.4 and dual HDMI 2.0 ports for connectivity.
    4. Users can adjust the monitor’s tilt, height, swivel, and rotation (90°) for improved ergonomics.
    5. Priced at approximately $262 in Japan, the monitor’s U.S. launch seems unlikely, but alternatives like the BenQ RD280U are available for $570.

We previously discussed monitors from JapanNext, a company that mainly caters to customers in Japan and Europe. Now, they’ve introduced a new product that features a unique aspect ratio aimed at specific users.

    New Monitor Release

The JapanNext JN-282IPS4KP-HSP is a continuation of its similar-sized predecessor but has removed an important feature – the 90 W USB-C charging. Other than this change, the 28.2-inch 3:2 monitor remains quite similar, offering a resolution of 3840 x 2560. It also includes a pair of 3W speakers.

With an IPS panel in use, this monitor promises good viewing angles. The company advertises 178° viewing angles alongside 100% coverage of the sRGB color space, 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and a maximum brightness of 340 nits. It’s worth noting that high-refresh rates are not included, which is typical for a monitor meant for office tasks.

    User Experience

However, the claims from JapanNext will need confirmation from independent reviewers before we can take them at face value.

The distinctive aspect ratio provides ample vertical space, allowing users to efficiently navigate through spreadsheets and documents. As shown in the image above, a 28.2-inch 3:2 display is basically an extended version of a 27-inch 16:9 display.

    Connectivity and Adjustments

For connectivity, the monitor includes dual DisplayPort 1.4 and dual HDMI 2.0 ports. Users can adjust the tilt, height, swivel, and even rotate it 90°.

Currently, this monitor is on sale in Japan for 40,980 Yen, which is approximately $262. A launch in the United States seems unlikely, although there are other options with a 3:2 aspect ratio available, like the BenQ RD280U, which you can find for $570 on Amazon.

  • JapanNext 31.5-Inch 6K Monitor: 220 PPI, Stylish Design, Premium Price

JapanNext 31.5-Inch 6K Monitor: 220 PPI, Stylish Design, Premium Price

    Key Takeaways

    1. The JapanNext JN-IPS326K-HSPC9 is a 31.5-inch 6K IPS monitor with a high pixel density of nearly 220 PPI.
    2. It offers 96% coverage of the DCI-P3 color range and has connectivity options including dual HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C 3.1.
    3. The monitor has a peak brightness of 500 nits and a contrast ratio of 1500:1, providing sharp visuals.
    4. It is not ideal for gamers due to the lack of higher refresh rates, making it more suitable for productivity and office use.
    5. Priced at €1,399 (approximately $1650), it features various ergonomic adjustments and additional functionalities like picture-in-picture and KVM switching.

JapanNext isn’t a name that many in the west would recognize, but they do have a lineup of products that are quite interesting. They’ve just revealed a new addition to their range called the JN-IPS326K-HSPC9. Despite its complicated name, this 6K IPS monitor seems to have some impressive specifications.

    Great Size and Resolution

Measuring 31.5 inches, this monitor is suitable for most tasks. Its resolution of 6016 x 3384 (6K) results in a pixel density of nearly 220 PPI, making the visuals sharp. JapanNext claims the monitor can reach a peak brightness of 500 nits and has a contrast ratio of 1500:1, which should function well for an IPS display.

    Color Performance and Connectivity

It’s important to note that while IPS panels can’t achieve the deep blacks and contrast levels seen in OLED screens without many dimming zones, JapanNext does promise 96% coverage of the DCI-P3 color range. This is slightly less than the 98% offered by the Asus ProArt 6K monitor, which is currently priced at $1290 on Amazon. The connectivity options are quite nice, featuring dual HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB-C 3.1 port that provides 90W power delivery for those who prefer a single-cable setup.

    Limitations for Gamers

All the mentioned ports can support the full 6K resolution at 60 Hz, which is quite standard. There’s no option for higher refresh rates, which is expected from a 6K display. Consequently, this monitor might not satisfy gamers and is more aligned with productivity and office environments.

The monitor also comes equipped with a 2W speaker, options for picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture modes, KVM switching, a low blue-light mode, VESA mounting support, and a 90° pivot for programmers. It allows for height, tilt, and swivel adjustments as well. With a price tag of €1,399, or about $1650, the JapanNext 6K monitor is positioned at a premium level. Currently, there are no updates on when it might launch in the US.
