Early Insights on the Next iPad Pro
YouTuber Wylsacom has shared an early preview of the upcoming iPad Pro and the new Apple M5 chipset. While it might seem strange for Apple to have such a major leak, a similar situation happened last year when Romancev768 and Wylsacom leaked details about the Apple M4 version of the MacBook Pro 14. Those earlier videos only showed the laptop itself; however, Apple had debuted the Apple M4 chipset earlier that same year in the iPad Pro 11 and iPad Pro 13.
Design and Specifications
Wylsacom’s latest reveal includes insights into Apple’s next chipset and its Pro-branded tablet before the official announcement. In terms of design, not much has altered between the 2024 and 2025 models of the iPad Pro 13. According to the video shared, Apple has taken away some branding from the rear of the newer version. Nevertheless, it seems that the next iPad Pro will still work with existing accessories, like Apple’s Magic Keyboard.
The iPad Pro 13 will continue to offer a starting point of 256 GB of storage, just like the previous version. However, Apple has boosted the base model’s RAM from 8 GB to 12 GB, which is confirmed by a Geekbench listing. Unfortunately, the chipset remains a 9-core model featuring three performance cores, unlike the four cores expected in the MacBook versions of the Apple M5.
Performance Improvements
Despite this, the Apple M5 chipset shows approximately a 10% increase in single-core performance and a 16% improvement in multi-core performance in Geekbench 6 compared to the Apple M4 in last year’s iPad Pro. Thanks to an additional 50% L2 cache, the Apple M5 enables the forthcoming iPad Pro 13 to outperform its predecessor by about 8% in AnTuTu v10. Interestingly, the Geekbench 6 Metal scores see a remarkable 34% increase between generations. For more details, check out the video above and the images below. Apple is expected to introduce its next iPad Pro 13 along with its smaller 11-inch counterpart in the coming weeks.
