Casio has unveiled the official images and information for two new G-Shock DW-5600 models, showcasing artwork from the renowned Japanese ukiyo-e artist, Katsushika Hokusai. Each watch is priced at ¥18,700 (around $119) in Japan and is built on the well-known square DW-5600 digital framework. These models are being launched as successors to the earlier Hokusai editions that came out in 2025.
Model Details
The first timepiece, DW-5600KHFM-1, is inspired by the artwork Under the Mannenbashi Bridge in Fukagawa. As previously hinted by @geesgshock, this scene is incorporated into the background of the dial, with both the bridge and river visible underneath the display. When the LED backlight is turned on, the artwork of the bridge becomes more vivid, stretching across the display area. The case back features the kanji character for “Japan,” signifying that the watch is indeed made in Japan.
Second Model Inspiration
The second watch, DW-5600KHS25-1, takes its design cues from Yamashita White Rain. This model showcases Mount Fuji and raindrop designs across the bottom half of the dial, using the background rather than the bezel or case to highlight the visuals. Similar to the bridge model, the artwork interacts well with the LED backlight and stays understated during regular use.
Both of these watches maintain the standard specifications of the DW-5600 line, including shock resistance, a water resistance of up to 200 meters, stopwatch and countdown timer features, alarm functions, and an EL backlight. There haven’t been any technical modifications or upgrades to the module. Additionally, Casio is offering specially designed packaging that features reproductions of the respective Hokusai prints.
