Garmin has introduced the Health Status feature for all users of the Index Sleep Monitor. This specialized sleep tracking device was launched worldwide in June 2025.

    New Features with Venu 4

The Health Status feature made its debut with the Venu 4 smartwatch in September 2025. This tool focuses on sleep and aims to give context to various health metrics. The device collects data overnight on five key metrics: heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), respiration, skin temperature, and pulseOx. In the morning, users can check this data against their personal baseline, which helps them see if their readings are within a normal range. If the metrics fall outside the usual limits, it may suggest some stress on the body, possibly due to factors like exercise, stress, alcohol intake, or even an illness.

    Software Updates and Availability

The Health Status feature was implemented for the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor (currently priced at $169.99 on Amazon) in software version 3.82. Users can download this update through the Garmin Connect app. The last update prior to this was a few months ago, when version 3.71 introduced various bug fixes and improvements to the device’s stability.

    Expansion to Other Devices

The Health Status feature is also being made available for many of Garmin’s smartwatches, including the Fenix 8, Venu X1, Vivoactive 6, and Forerunner 570/970. Users will receive the Health Status Glance directly on their watches, along with detailed analysis in the Garmin Connect app. However, users of other models like the Venu 3, Vivoactive 5, Forerunner 255, and Fenix 7 can only access the Health Status feature through the smartphone app.
