Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition Unboxing Video Review

The Galaxy Z Fold6 continues to be Samsung’s response to sleeker foldables like the Honor Magic V3, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and the OnePlus Open (currently priced at $1499.99 on Amazon). Yet, the company has introduced a notably thinner version in its domestic market and China, known as the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition and Samsung W25, respectively.

    Limited Global Availability

Sadly, it looks like these models won’t be available worldwide, at least not officially. However, Jeff Springer from SammyGuru has gotten his hands on one. Even better, he has already posted what seems to be the very first English unboxing video of the device, which we’ve included below.

    Design Insights

As shown in the images above, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition appears to be slimmer than its 12% reduction indicates when stacked against the Galaxy Z Fold6. This Special Edition is also taller and wider compared to its foldable sibling, while still offering a more comfortable grip than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Additionally, Springer gives us an up-close view of the Special Edition’s crease, which is significantly less prominent than the one that characterizes the Galaxy Z Fold6.

    Enhanced Usability

Moreover, the Special Edition seems to feature a more functional cover display, thanks to an additional 4.7 mm width when it’s folded. Ultimately, the software experience will be quite familiar to anyone who has used a recent Galaxy Z Fold model. Incidentally, it’s still possible to import a Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, although it comes at a pretty steep price for now.

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7, Fold7, and Fold7 Ultra Model Numbers Leaked

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7, Fold7, and Fold7 Ultra Model Numbers Leaked

Samsung has recently launched the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition. Nevertheless, many reports are already focusing on the upcoming seventh-generation foldable devices from Samsung. It’s important to note that the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition is currently limited to South Korea.

    Possible China Launch

In light of this, it appears that Samsung plans to introduce a similar device in China under the name W25. In contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold6 (currently priced at $1,299.99 – renewed on Amazon) can be found in several markets. Sources like GalaxyClub and Roland Quandt have indicated that Samsung has determined the model numbers for three new Galaxy Z devices. They specifically mention that the seventh-generation foldables will be identified by the model numbers B7, Q7, and Q7M.

    Model Number Insights

Based on past models, B7 is likely associated with the Galaxy Z Flip7. Conversely, Q7 is expected to correspond to the Galaxy Z Fold7. Furthermore, Q7M is thought to be an additional variant of the Galaxy Z Fold7, similar to how the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition is related to the Galaxy Z Fold6, which has the model numbers Q6A and Q6.

Given that the former is a pricier version of the latter, it’s reasonable to think that Q7M may serve as a direct successor to Q6A. Unfortunately, it’s still unclear if Samsung’s other book-style foldable will be launched widely as a ‘Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra’ or if it will be another exclusive Galaxy Z Fold7 Special Edition.

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition May Lack UDC Tech

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition May Lack UDC Tech

Samsung has begun to hint at the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition, a device that many have been eagerly awaiting. Despite numerous leaks that have revealed much of the hardware over the past few months, speculation about its features continues to thrive among leakers.

    Camera Upgrades Rumored

Recently, leakers @TheGalox_ and @UniverseIce made bold statements regarding the internal camera of the new device. To give some background, Samsung has utilized the Under-Display Camera (UDC) technology since the Galaxy Z Fold3, which is currently priced at $439 for a renewed version on Amazon. This has led to the company using the same 4 MP camera in all Galaxy Z Fold models released since then, including the anticipated Galaxy Z Fold6.

    New Technology and Trade-offs

There are whispers that Samsung might introduce a new 5 MP internal camera and Ultra Flexible Glass (UFG) with the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition. This new glass is expected to replace the Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) to help reduce the visibility of the display crease. However, it appears that this exciting camera and glass upgrade might come at the expense of the UDC technology.

Consequently, @TheGalox_ and @UniverseIce now think that the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition could be the first model since the Galaxy Z Fold2 to come equipped with a traditional hole punch camera in its expansive foldable screen. Samsung is anticipated to officially reveal the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition in China and South Korea on October 21.

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition and W25 Design Leaked

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition and W25 Design Leaked

Hardly anytime has gone by since Ice Universe shared their thoughts on an intriguing feature of Samsung’s anticipated limited edition foldable. In short, the leaker talked about the display crease in the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition, claiming it is ‘better than ever’. Now, it looks like Evan Blass might have given us a first glimpse of this device, which we’ve included below.

    A Sneak Peek

Sadly, Blass has only provided a small portion of a much bigger image. Additionally, they haven’t identified the device itself. Still, the design appears to reflect the characteristics of a Galaxy Z Fold model, though there are some notable variations from the current Galaxy Z Fold6 (curr. $1,598.90 – 512 GB on Amazon).

    Design Differences

On one side, the unnamed device displays a different layout for the power and volume buttons compared to the Galaxy Z Fold6. To compare, the Galaxy Z Fold6 has a recessed power button, while the one shown here is protruding. Moreover, both buttons seem to be housed in a slimmer casing, which has been a persistent rumor regarding the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition.

    A Touch of Luxury

Conversely, the device features a gold mid-frame with horizontal stripes, which is more flashy than Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold models. This finish resembles the W24, a version of the Galaxy Z Fold5 that Samsung exclusively offers in China. Since Samsung has not yet revealed a Chinese version of the Galaxy Z Fold6, we think the image might represent the W25, and by extension, the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition. As it stands, Samsung is anticipated to announce both later this month, although the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition is currently rumored to be launching only in South Korea for now.

  • Galaxy Z Fold 6 & Flip 6 Renders Leaked: First Look

Galaxy Z Fold 6 & Flip 6 Renders Leaked: First Look

Samsung’s new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, have been leaked. Evan Blass shared high-quality images of these devices, giving us the most detailed view yet of these upcoming models, despite numerous leaks in recent weeks.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 Color Options Revealed

The leaks indicate that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be available in two colors: Navy and Silver. The Navy color is dark and exudes elegance, making it a refreshing change from the typical black and silver options we often encounter. For those who prefer a more classic appearance, the Silver color is also on offer.

Similarly, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will come in two colors: Blue and Silver. The Blue color on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is very light, resembling sky blue or periwinkle blue, which differs from the deeper blue shade some might expect. The Silver color for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 matches that of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, providing a sleek and stylish choice.

    Design and Features

From the leaked images, it’s clear that both phones boast sleek designs. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a large, foldable screen that opens like a book, offering a substantial display for multitasking and entertainment. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a clamshell design, making it compact and easy to carry. Both phones are anticipated to have high-quality displays and advanced camera systems, though specific details are not yet available.

Samsung is likely to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10. While Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed the date, they have been teasing these new models. With the event just around the corner, more details should emerge soon.
