The Mix Flip 2 is set to improve on the achievements of its predecessor, featuring the same Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC found in popular Android smartphones like the OnePlus 13 and RedMagic 10 Pro. Nonetheless, a recent leak suggests it might not look very similar to the original model.
Camera Specifications
According to well-known leaker Digital Chat Station, this upcoming device could be the first clamshell smartphone in the world to use the 8 Elite chip and may come with dual 50MP rear cameras. However, neither of these cameras will be a periscope zoom lens, a feature that was successfully included in the first Mix Flip.
Display Features
The new version is expected to keep a sizable cover display, although it might feature a curved design on two sides, marking a first for the Mix Flip series. Alongside this, there could be a main LTPO folding screen that has a resolution of 1.5K and measures about 6.85 inches diagonally, compared to the 6.86 inches of Xiaomi’s current vertically-folding phone.
Additional Features
There are also indications that the upcoming model will maintain a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button. However, it is rumored to lack wireless charging and an IPX8 rating, which were features expected from its predecessor.
The absence of a periscope-style telephoto lens could be a risky move for Xiaomi in launching this second generation of clamshell foldables, especially since this feature gives the Mix Flip an edge over Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip6, which currently retails for $799.99 on Amazon.
