XU Retro has just introduced the XU20 V32 as an alternative to the TrimUI Brick, currently priced at $69.99 on Amazon. However, the company has also shared information about a larger gaming handheld that is on its way. This new device, the XU35 H40, should not be confused with the upcoming XU35 H50. The XU35 H40 is similar in size to the RG406H from Anbernic, featuring a 4-inch display and a horizontal design.

    Display and Controls

The XU35 H40 boasts a 960 x 720 resolution with a 4:3 touchscreen, similar to the RG406H. It also includes Hall effect controls that align it with Anbernic’s gaming handheld offerings. Interestingly, XU Retro has opted for a unique d-pad layout, placing the joysticks at the bottom edge of the device. As indicated in the image below, the pricing for the XU35 H40 is expected to be around $90, which is considerably lower than the RG406H.

    Specifications and Performance

To keep the cost down, XU Retro has chosen the MediaTek Helio G85 processor, backed by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. However, based on our tests, this choice may put the XU35 H40 at a noticeable disadvantage for CPU-intensive applications. On the other hand, the difference in GPU performance between these two devices is less pronounced. Currently, XU Retro aims to launch the XU35 H40 in December 2025, which will follow the release of the larger XU35 H50 by two months.

Unico Pocket: Unique Retro Handheld for SNK Neo Geo Gaming

The retro gaming handheld market is currently led by a select few companies. Anbernic, for example, has been launching a new device every month since the year began, with the latest being the RG406H, which is priced at $249.99 on Amazon. Powkiddy is also a consistent competitor, along with SZDiier, who are always in the mix.

    Unico’s New Offering

A lesser-known brand, Unico, has introduced the Pocket, aiming to set itself apart from the other recent handheld gaming consoles in a significant way. The Pocket is powered by what Unico calls a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor, which likely refers to some variant of a Rockchip chipset, possibly the Rockchip RK3328.

    Specifications to Note

The Unico Pocket features a 4-inch IPS screen that delivers visuals at 960 x 720 pixels in a 4:3 aspect ratio, similar to the RG406H. Its dimensions are 156 x 77.6 x 17 mm, and it has the typical buttons one would expect, including a d-pad and two joysticks. Uniquely, it also has ABCD buttons, which honors the system it was designed for.

As depicted in the image below, the Unico Pocket includes 40 games from SNK’s vast Neo Geo collection, featuring popular titles like multiple versions of The King of Fighters, Metal Slug, and Fatal Fury. However, it remains uncertain whether these games are officially licensed. Presently, the Unico Pocket can be purchased in grey and black colors for $79, with a suggested retail price of $89.

New High-End Gaming Handheld with Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipset

It appears that a new premium Android gaming handheld is being developed. While it’s not official yet, NITTRX has shared some information about what they are calling the ‘MARK1’.

    Design and Layout

The Mark1 seems to follow the design of the RG406H, which Anbernic announced just recently. Featuring a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, it is expected to perform at a level that’s between the Retroid Pocket 5 and AYN Odin2 (currently priced at $449 on Amazon).

    Display and Build Quality

Additionally, the Mark1 is equipped with a 4:3 display measuring 4.8 inches. Interestingly, this small screen is set back into the body of the Mark1, which NITTRX claims is made from CNC-machined aluminium.

    Features and Unknowns

Furthermore, the device boasts a complete set of gamepad buttons, a USB Type-C port placed on top, and what looks like a single MicroSD card slot. Unfortunately, many specifics are still unclear, such as the release date and the manufacturer of the device. However, the information displayed on the Mark1 suggests that it might be based on a modified Motorola smartphone.
