The original Tomb Raider trilogy got a fresh remaster and was launched for consoles and PC in 2024. Just a year later, the other three games in the series were also remastered and made available for those platforms. Now, the first three games have hit additional platforms, along with a new free update that introduces several exciting features and a fresh game mode.

    Availability on New Platforms

As per an official announcement, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered can now be found on the App Store for iOS devices, the Google Play Store for Android devices, and the Nintendo eShop for the Switch 2. Techradar shared that Aspyr, the studio responsible for the remaster, informed them that the mobile version is special, as it is built on the original code rather than being a port from other systems. Nevertheless, it includes all the same content, expansions, and features as the versions on other platforms.

    Mobile Version Features

While Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is yet to be available for mobile devices, it’s only a matter of time before it arrives. Moreover, the mobile version has its menu tailored for touch screens and offers both touch controls and controller support. If you have a mobile controller like the 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller (priced at $34.32 on Amazon) or an Android handheld device like the Retroid Pocket 6, you should have a smooth gaming experience.

    Enhanced Graphics on Switch 2

On the Nintendo Switch 2, the game takes full advantage of the new hardware, providing features like 1440p at 60fps in docked mode or 1080p at 120fps when played handheld. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered doesn’t just arrive on new platforms, but also includes a free update for all versions. This update introduces a challenge mode that lets players tweak game settings such as health, damage, and bonuses for a tougher gameplay experience.

    New Outfits and Achievements

The update also adds 10 new outfits that can be unlocked upon completing specific achievements. These outfits are more than just cosmetic changes; they come with enhanced abilities like improved speed. Additionally, 15 new achievements can be earned by finishing levels in challenge mode. The update is currently available for existing owners of the game, while new buyers will find that the updated features are included in their purchase.

In line with the announcement, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is now offered at a 50% limited-time discount across all platforms, reducing the price from $29.99 to $14.99. The mobile version even lets users try the first level of each game for free before deciding to buy the full version. Those who own the original Switch version will receive a complimentary upgrade to the Switch 2 version.

Tomb Raider, as reported by Techradar, is making big waves in the gaming world with these exciting updates and releases!

  • 8BitDo FlipPad Controller: Perfect for Portrait Mode Gaming

8BitDo FlipPad Controller: Perfect for Portrait Mode Gaming

    Key Takeaways

    1. The 8BitDo FlipPad is designed specifically for smartphones and allows gaming in portrait mode.
    2. It features a Type-C connector that plugs into the phone’s USB-C port and supports the bottom half of the screen.
    3. The controller adopts the G Classic design style and is expected to have various color options.
    4. The FlipPad is compatible with both Android and iOS devices and has official support from Apple.
    5. The controller will face competition from other brands like the Abxylute M4 and MCON Magnetic Controller upon its release in summer 2026.

A few weeks back, 8BitDo hinted at the release of a new “pro” controller during CES 2026. Although this controller is set to be disclosed when the tech event kicks off on January 6, 8BitDo has caught us off guard by introducing another controller called the FlipPad.

    Design and Functionality

The 8BitDo FlipPad is specifically crafted for smartphones; however, it isn’t the company’s first smartphone controller. The FlipPad is uniquely designed for gaming in portrait mode, contrasting with the 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller (which can be found on Amazon for $49.99) that requires users to play in landscape mode.

This controller features a Type-C connector that easily plugs into your phone’s USB-C port, flipping to support the bottom half of the screen, reminiscent of vintage flip phones. It comes with a black D-Pad, burgundy ABXY buttons, gray Start and Select buttons, and six white buttons whose purposes are still unclear.

    Aesthetic Appeal

As seen in the reveal video above, the 8BitDo FlipPad adopts the G Classic design style that 8BitDo often employs in its controllers, like the 8BitDo Pro 3, and we anticipate that there will be various color options available.

8BitDo claims that this controller is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, with official backing from Apple. However, pricing details are still under wraps, but we might see updates soon with a complete announcement at CES later this week. Sadly, you’ll have to wait a bit longer to get the FlipPad, as 8BitDo mentions it will launch this summer.

    Facing Competition

When the 8BitDo FlipPad finally arrives, it will have to contend with tough competition from other brands, such as the Abxylute M4 Snap-On Controller and the MCON Magnetic Controller.
