Ridley E-Grifn Electric Road Bike: Brand’s First E-Bike Launch

Ridley recently introduced its inaugural electric road bike, the Ridley E-Grifn, designed to excel in urban and off-road environments. This new e-bike boasts a range of impressive features, catering to both pedal-powered and assisted cycling enthusiasts.

Design and Specifications

The E-Grifn showcases Ridley's commitment to innovative design, featuring the Mahle X20 drive unit which adds approximately 3.2kg to the bike's total weight. With a torque sensor capable of delivering up to 55Nm, this drive unit offers substantial output for a hub motor. Notably, the Mahle X20 drive unit minimizes mechanical resistance at speeds exceeding 15.5 mph (25 km/h). Equipped with a 350Wh integrated battery, the E-Grifn also offers an optional 171Wh range extender that replaces the water bottle mount on the bike.

Performance and Customization

Charging the E-Grifn is efficient, with a full recharge taking only 3.5 hours and reaching an 80% charge in just two hours. Boasting a 72-degree steerer that blends features of performance road and gravel bikes, this model includes a lower bottom bracket and 420mm mainstays for optimal power generation during acceleration. The bike's versatility allows for comfortable rides on roads and light off-road terrains, supporting tires of up to 42mm. Buyers have the option to customize their gearing preferences by removing the front derailleur clamp, with both mechanical and electronic gear shifting choices available.

Pricing and Availability

Interested customers can tailor their Ridley E-Grifn experience through the company's online configurator, including selecting their preferred paintwork. The Ridley E-Grifn is priced starting at €5,499 ($5,910) and is available for purchase directly through the company's website.
