PUBG: Battlegrounds is set to evoke nostalgia with a blast from the past! The iconic game that kickstarted the battle royale trend will be reintroducing its original map, Erangel, for a limited two-week period in May and June. This move aims to blend the classic map with new gameplay elements, promising an engaging experience for players.
Reviving the Classic
Erangel Classic seeks to transport players back to the early days of PUBG, offering the original map layout, graphics, atmosphere, and user interface. However, Krafton, the company that acquired PUBG, assures players of "modern tweaks" that enhance the gameplay's fluidity. This revival can be likened to a nostalgic throwback, maintaining the essence of the original game while incorporating quality-of-life improvements.
Nostalgic Enhancements
Drawing inspiration from Fortnite's successful reintroduction of its original map, Erangel Classic will amplify nostalgia with features like foggy weather, bench weapons on the starting island, and reduced weapon recoil reminiscent of the game's initial experience. Additionally, players can anticipate the return of the Tommy Gun in care packages and a vintage user interface with a "charmingly tacky" appearance.
Staggered Rollout
For players across different platforms, the rollout of Erangel Classic will be staggered. PC players can enjoy the classic map from May 14th to May 28th, followed by console players from May 23rd to June 6th. Throughout this period, the modern Erangel map will be temporarily unavailable. Stay tuned for the May 14th patch notes, which will contain all the essential details about Erangel Classic.
