Lockheed Martin, a leading aerospace and defense firm in the US, has introduced a new branch called Astris AI. This initiative aims to promote the use of AI technologies in defense applications, tailored for American industrial bases and security firms that have "high assurance requirements."
Investments in AI Development
According to a press release, Lockheed Martin has made important investments in creating a top-tier MLOps software capability, along with a generative AI platform specifically designed for high-assurance end users. The company is also focused on establishing a strong team of AI specialists.
Targeting Defense and Commercial Sectors
The newly developed models are intended for both defense and commercial organizations to "create and implement secure, resilient, and scalable AI solutions." Astris AI will provide two main products - the AI Factory Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) and a generative AI platform. These products aim to speed up post-mission analytics, facilitate testing of new software code, and help analyze lengthy documents.
Leadership and Vision
Donna O'Donnell, who previously served as Chief Revenue Officer and led AI and automation sales at Xerox, will head Astris AI. In her statement, O'Donnell emphasized, "By merging Lockheed Martin's know-how with Astris AI's flexible strategy, we are helping organizations to tackle the challenges posed by the fast-changing tech world with high-assurance AI solutions that ensure secure and dependable interactions, compliance, and sound decision-making."
