Popular drone maker DJI has recently launched the DJI Dock 2 and DJI Matrice 3D/3DT in China. The DJI Dock 2 is a more compact version of the original DJI Dock, which was showcased last year in Las Vegas.
DJI Dock 2: Versatile and Weather Resistant
The DJI Dock 2 is specifically designed to facilitate remote drone operations with the Matrice 3D and 3DT models. It serves as a docking station for the drones, allowing them to launch and land seamlessly. One of the key features of the DJI Dock 2 is its versatility, making it compatible with various scenarios. With an IP55 rating, it is capable of withstanding different weather conditions. The drone-dock combination also boasts an impressive range of 6 miles, enabling extensive exploration. Additionally, the DJI Dock 2 is equipped with an environmental monitoring system, ensuring optimal operations.
Smaller and Lighter Design
The DJI Dock 2 has undergone significant size and weight reduction compared to its predecessor. It is now 75% smaller and 68% lighter than the original DJI Dock, which weighed 75lbs. This compact and lightweight design enhances versatility, making it easier to transport and use in various settings.
Efficient and Reliable Performance
For optimal operating cost and maximum uptime, the DJI Dock 2 has a recommended maintenance interval of six months. It also features a built-in backup battery, providing up to 5 hours of additional use in case of power loss or when operating in remote locations. The Matrice 3D and Matrice 3DT drones are specifically designed to work seamlessly with the DJI Dock 2. These models do not have foldable arms and are designed to fit snugly into the landing area of the Dock 2.
Both the new DJI drones, Matrice 3D and Matrice 3DT, are equipped with omnidirectional obstacle avoidance and offer a flight time of 50 minutes. Their batteries have an average cycle of 400, ensuring long-lasting performance. Moreover, both models are equipped with an RTK module for precision landing. The Matrice 3D features a wide-angle 4/3 CMOS 20MP sensor with a mechanical shutter, as well as a 1/2-inch CMOS telephoto 12MP sensor. On the other hand, the DJI Matrice 3DT boasts a 1/1.32” CMOS 48MP sensor, a 640 x 512 thermal camera, and a 1/2-inch CMOS telephoto 12MP sensor.
Pricing and Availability
Currently, the DJI Dock 2 and the DJI Matrice 3D/3DT drones are only available in the Chinese market. The combined price of the dock-drone pair is set at 69,999 yuan (~$9,614) for the Matrice 3D. There is no official information yet regarding the availability of the new DJI Dock 2 and DJI Matrice 3D/3DT drones in overseas markets.
