Currently, Apple’s iPhones, iPads, and Macs have a passwords feature, but it is hidden deep within the Settings app. Users need to go through a three-step process to access it. A standalone Passwords app would address this issue, making it more accessible, especially for those new to the Apple ecosystem.
The existing passwords feature in Settings can store logins, passwords, support one-time passcodes, share passwords, and more. These capabilities will be included in the dedicated Passwords app as well. It will be powered by Apple’s iCloud Keychain service, which syncs credentials across all devices.
