Canon has introduced the PowerShot GOLF laser rangefinder camera, taking inspiration from the popular PowerShot Zoom mini telescopic camera that debuted in 2020.
Features
This innovative device blends telescope technology with that of compact digital cameras. The laser rangefinder serves those who require precise distance measurements, capable of covering objects up to 732 meters away. As its name suggests, the PowerShot GOLF is an excellent tool for golf enthusiasts.
The Canon PowerShot GOLF employs laser ranging technology, distinguishing it from GPS-based products on the market. It boasts high accuracy and includes a shooting feature. The rangefinder camera integrates a compact design, encased in a lightweight body that weighs approximately 151g, making it highly portable. It houses an 11MP sensor that offers a maximum measuring length of 732m. The built-in 35mm lens has an equivalent focal length of 410mm and supports 2x digital zoom. When digital zoom is used, the focal length extends to about 820mm. Additionally, the rangefinder camera has a slope compensation feature, enhancing its precision for improving golf performance.
Advanced Capabilities
Canon claims the PowerShot GOLF can capture objects that are usually challenging to photograph. It can focus on a flagpole from a considerable distance and provide a panoramic view of the targeted golf hole. Besides being a rangefinder, it also captures photos and videos. Photos are recorded in JPEG format, and videos in MP4 format, assisting golfers in measuring and documenting distances. The playback feature for pictures and videos aids golfers in refining their skills.
Pricing & Availability
The Canon PowerShot GOLF rangefinder camera is set to hit the market in July 2024. However, Canon has yet to announce the pricing details for the PowerShot GOLF.
