BenQ, the Chinese projector manufacturer, has introduced its latest models: the TK710 and the TK710STi laser projectors. These new devices are designed specifically for casual gaming and come equipped with several notable features, including multiple HDR game modes, a 4ms input lag, and dual HDMI ports.
Specifications and Features
Both the BenQ TK710 and the TK710STi utilize a laser light source capable of delivering up to 3,200 lumens of brightness, with an operational life of up to 20,000 hours. These DLP projectors can project images up to 150 inches (380 cm) wide with a 16:9 aspect ratio. While they are advertised as having a native 4K UHD resolution, the measurement of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and their relatively low price point suggest they might be using pixel-shifting technology.
Gaming Capabilities
The projectors boast a 600,000:1 contrast ratio, Lightsource Dimming technology, and 95% Rec.709 color gamut coverage. Key gaming features include HDR game modes, an input lag of 16.7 ms for 4K at 60Hz resolution, and 4.2 ms for 1080P at 240Hz. Connectivity options include two HDMI (2.0b/HDCP2.2) ports, a built-in 5W speaker, HDMI eARC support for Dolby Atmos, USB-A 2.0, and RS232 ports.
Model Differences
The BenQ TK710 has a throw ratio of 1.15-1.5 and supports 1.3x zoom, whereas the TK710STi offers a throw ratio of 0.69-0.83 with 1.2x zoom. Both models feature vertical and horizontal keystone correction and vertical lens shift for the standard version. The TK710STi also includes a QS02 Android dongle, which is not available with the standard TK710.
