Lenovo has introduced two fresh laptops powered by the Windows-on-Arm platform featuring the Snapdragon X Elite chipset: the Yoga Slim 7x 14 Gen 9 and the ThinkPad T14 Gen 6. Here are the main details about these new devices.
Yoga Slim 7x 14 Gen 9
The Yoga Slim 7x 14 Gen 9 is a sleek device, with a thickness of just 12.9mm and a weight of approximately 1.28kg. Despite its slim profile, it houses a 70Whr battery and supports Rapid Charge Express technology, which, according to Lenovo, provides up to 3 hours of usage from just a 15-minute charge with the new power-efficient SoC.
The laptop features Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU, enabling generative AI-based text-to-image capabilities and other AI functions. In addition, it has an integrated Adreno GPU, 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD, and 3 USB-C ports (USB4 certification expected by July 2024). The display is a 14.5" 3K 90Hz OLED panel, capable of reaching 500 nits in SDR and 1000 nits in HDR content. For wireless connectivity, it offers WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3. The laptop also comes with a backlit keyboard with 1.5mm key travel.
This model is currently available for pre-order on Lenovo’s website for $1,289 (~9,245 Yuan).
ThinkPad T14s Gen 6
The ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 also utilizes the Snapdragon X Elite chip and supports generative AI capabilities. It includes 32GB of soldered LPDDR5X memory, a 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen 4×4 SSD, and a smaller 58Whr battery that supports Rapid Charge, reaching up to 80% charge within an hour.
This laptop features a 14" WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS display capable of 400 nits brightness. It measures 16.9mm in thickness and weighs slightly less than the Yoga Slim 7x 14 Gen 9 at 1.24kg.
Regarding ports, the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 offers a variety of options:
- 2 x USB-C 4, 40Gbps (supports power delivery & DisplayPort)
- 2 x USB-A, 5Gbps (1 always on)
- HDMI 2.1 (supports resolution up to 4K@60Hz)
- Headphone/mic combo
- Optional: Nano SIM slot
