Yashica City 200: Affordable Compact Camera with 10x Zoom & 4K

The Yashica City 100 and City 200 are designed to be budget-friendly digital cameras. The primary distinction between these two models lies in their lenses; the City 100 features a 3x optical zoom, while the City 200 offers a more advanced 10x zoom, making it pricier.

    Camera Specifications

Both models are equipped with a 13 MP sensor that is 1/3.06 inches in size, which is even smaller than those found in many low-cost mid-range smartphones. The sensor captures images in a 4:3 aspect ratio, differing from the more standard 3:2. Additionally, users can record 4K videos at 60 frames per second. With the help of autofocus and auto exposure, snapping sharp and well-lit photos can be done with just a press of the shutter button.

    Night Photography and Limitations

An built-in flash enables users to take pictures at night without needing to crank up the ISO to its max of 3,200, which would probably create significant image noise due to the sensor’s size. The specifications reflect what you would expect from a compact camera from about 15 years ago. Like most of Yashica’s compact cameras, the City series likely lacks RAW support and only saves images in JPEG format. Surprisingly, Yashica has decided to omit Bluetooth and WLAN, resulting in no wireless options for transferring images.

    Pricing and Release Info

The Yashica City series is set to release in February. Currently, only prices for the UK and Europe are available: £219.99/219.99€ for the Yashica City 100 with 3x zoom and £259.99/259.99€ for the Yashica City 200 with 10x zoom. Information regarding US pricing is anticipated to come out soon.
