The fan-driven project to recreate The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is close to completion. The team behind Skyblivion has released their first update of the year, and everything seems to suggest that the remake will be ready sometime this year.
Project History and Scope
Initiated in 2012, the project was made public four years later in 2016. Skyblivion is a comprehensive mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but it is much larger than typical mods. It effectively rebuilds Oblivion using Skyrim’s game engine, offering reimagined graphics, quests, and role-playing game mechanics.
Progress and Updates
As per their development timeline, nearly all of the over 200 quests in Oblivion have been finished, with only six remaining. Most of the landscapes and interior spaces are also completed, and the team has incorporated 24 new tracks into the original soundtrack of Oblivion. Additionally, they are seeking volunteers to help in various capacities.
Future Plans
Currently, the remake focuses solely on the base game and does not feature content from the Shivering Isles or any other downloads for Oblivion. However, the team has indicated that they will outline their plans for downloadable content after the release of Skyblivion.
