    Key Takeaways

    1. Challenging Off-Road Exploration: Players engage as scientific adventurers, navigating tough terrains with specially designed vehicles and advanced tools.

    2. Realistic Driving Mechanics: The game features realistic vehicle handling influenced by weight, tire pressure, and terrain, requiring strategic resource management.

    3. Mixed Reviews: Released in March 2024, the game has received a mix of feedback, with only 56% positive reviews on Steam and a player rating of 5.5 on Metacritic.

    4. Criticism of Lack of Innovation: Many players feel the game resembles an expansion of SnowRunner, citing repetitive gameplay and technical difficulties.

    5. Promotional Offer: A free weekend is available on Steam, with discounts of up to 43% on various editions until March 13, attracting off-road and simulation game fans.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game immerses players into the challenging world of off-road exploration as scientific adventurers. With specially designed vehicles, they traverse tough environments, including dry deserts and rugged mountain trails. Players face obstacles such as deep mud, swift rivers, and steep inclines, while using advanced tools like drones and ground radar to discover hidden areas.

    Realistic Driving Mechanics

This game emphasizes realistic driving mechanics, where elements like vehicle weight, tire pressure, and the state of the terrain influence how the vehicles handle. Players need to think strategically, managing resources like fuel, spare parts, and other necessary equipment. Completing successful expeditions leads to unlocking new vehicles, enhanced gear, and base upgrades. In cooperative mode, up to three players can join forces to tackle the challenges together.

    Mixed Reviews and Criticism

Released in March 2024 by Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game has received mixed feedback. On Steam, only 56% of about 2,150 reviews are positive. Metacritic reflects a similar sentiment, with critics giving it a respectable 77 Metascore, while players rated it lower at 5.5.

The primary criticism revolves around its perceived lack of innovation when compared to SnowRunner, a game from the same developers that shares a similar premise. Many users argue that it feels more like an expansion pack for SnowRunner rather than a new game. Additionally, repetitive gameplay and technical difficulties have been frequently mentioned in reviews.

    Promotional Offer

Currently, Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment are providing a free weekend for Expeditions: A MudRunner Game on Steam. Even though the reviews are mixed, fans of off-road and simulation gaming might still find enjoyment in it. For those who become interested, there are discounts of up to 43% on different editions available until March 13.

  • Space Marine 2 Update: New Difficulty, PvP Map, and More Features

Space Marine 2 Update: New Difficulty, PvP Map, and More Features

Saber Interactive has released a fresh update called ‘Datavault’ that allows players to tackle ‘Ordeals’ in campaign, operations, and eternal war modes. These challenges can be found in a new section of the battle barge titled Datavault.

    Rewards and Cosmetics

By completing these tasks, players will gather Research Data, a currency that helps unlock details about both allies and foes. This mode also introduces new cosmetic items – four icons meant for the right pauldron, two weapon skins, and two pieces of armor.

New PvP Map and Enemy Type

Additionally, a new PvP map named Tomb has been introduced. It features quick side routes and a central area for close-quarters combat that can be attacked from multiple angles.

There’s a new enemy in the Tyranids faction called Biovore. This enemy moves quickly, can launch spore mines from afar, and has a melee attack for close encounters. Players can now access six new emotes like “a stoic handshake” and “a pound to the chest” through the emote wheel.

    Tech-Priest Workshop and Requisition Points

Another addition is the tech-priest workshop located in the battle barge armory. Here, players can trade lower-tier armory data for more valuable types. They can also sell this data to gain requisition points. The maximum limit for requisition points has been raised from 990 to 2000.

    New Difficulty Level

The game has introduced the sixth and final difficulty level, dubbed “Absolute,” which centers on more varied enemy groups that present heightened challenges. In this mode, resources and ammo are scarce.

    Quality of Life Improvements

In addition to these significant updates, there are several quality-of-life enhancements, including a FOV slider for PC, optional crossplay for console gamers, new finishing moves, an XP bonus for quick matches, and additional masteries for player progression.

Lastly, the perk trees across all classes have been balanced, and several bugs have been fixed. You can find the complete patch notes linked here.

Get 25% Off Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 on Steam Now!

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is currently on sale with a 25% discount on Steam until January 27th. The game, which was released last year, has received a great response from its players and managed to sell 4.5 million copies in just the first month after its launch.

    Record-Breaking Popularity

This title has become the most popular Warhammer game across all genres on Steam. Time Willits, the Chief Creative Officer at Saber Interactive, mentioned in an interview with IGN last year that this game “Changes everything” for their company.

Revenue from the game has brought in significant profits for Games Workshop, the holder of the Warhammer license, contributing a large portion of their earnings (according to PC Gamer) for the fiscal year 2023/24. In their half-year report, the company noted that this success has resulted in “more people coming into our Warhammer stores.”

    Looking Ahead

Games Workshop is aware that “successes like these for Warhammer are not a given in the world of video games.” They are already on the hunt for their next hit, determined to “ensure Warhammer’s place as one of the top fantasy IPs globally.”

Last year, Willits shared with IGN that there are already some concepts for Space Marine 3.

“I can confidently say that we will not disappoint our Warhammer fans in the future. It’s too big of a success! I know that’s an obvious thing to say, but hopefully we’ll be working on Space Marine content for a long time,” expressed Willits.

  • Upcoming Avatar RPG: Biggest Project in Franchise History

Upcoming Avatar RPG: Biggest Project in Franchise History

There is exciting news for those who love Avatar: The Last Airbender! According to a report from IGN, Saber Interactive and Paramount Game Studios are hard at work creating an action RPG that is set in the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe. Although this game will take place in the same world as the beloved original series and its follow-up, The Legend of Korra, it will introduce a brand new storyline. The most thrilling part is that this new Avatar game is being developed as a true AAA title, marking the largest project in the franchise’s history.

    New Avatar, New Story

As reported by IGN, this game will unfold a fresh narrative and allow players to step into the shoes of a new Avatar who existed thousands of years prior to the events of the original series. Players will have the ability to master all four elements and make choices that will influence the world’s equilibrium. The story is being crafted in close partnership with Avatar Studios, which is headed by the creators of the series, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

    A Promising Development Team

Saber Interactive has a reputation for creating successful games, including Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 and World War Z, alongside their contributions to the Halo Master Chief Collection. Therefore, it seems that they have the right ingredients for an amazing Avatar game. Josh Austin from Saber Interactive mentioned that the development team is filled with dedicated fans who are eager to broaden the Avatar universe.

    Community Reaction

The feedback from the Reddit community about this new Avatar RPG is largely positive. However, many fans believe it might be several years before the game actually comes out. After all, developing a role-playing game often takes a significant amount of time. Currently, the game is in its early development stages, and neither its title nor release date has been revealed yet.
