Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who directed The Witcher 3, has revealed that his new team, Rebel Wolves, is working on a dark role-playing game set in 14th Century Europe during The Black Death.
Rebel Wolves was established in 2022 by Tomaszkiewicz, who is joined by a creative team made up of seasoned industry professionals with experience on titles like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. After facing workplace bullying allegations at CD Projekt Red in 2021, Tomaszkiewicz was cleared of the charges but decided to leave the company to create his own studio.
The Blood of Dawnwalker, the team’s debut in the AAA gaming world, is set to deliver the dark themes and emotional depth reminiscent of The Witcher 3.

The teaser trailer showcases an impressive world ravaged by The Black Death, a real pandemic that swept through Europe from 1346 to 1353, claiming around 50 million lives.
A Darker Threat
But the plague isn’t the only danger lurking. Vampires have begun to emerge, drawn to humanity’s weaknesses. The RPG hints at a morally complex environment, allowing players to make choices and align with different factions within a “narrative sandbox.”
Rebel Wolves describe this as the “first chapter of a brand new role-playing saga,” with Bandai Namco taking on the publishing role. The game’s official store listings are not available yet, but promotional materials suggest it will launch on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
