Philips Launches Vintage Turntable, Radio, and Headphones for 100th Anniversary

Philips is marking a century in the audio market with the Century Series, which consists of five innovative products that combine nostalgic designs with contemporary functionalities. Launching in September, this range features two all-in-one turntable systems, a portable DAB/FM radio, and two retro-themed headphones. The aim is to revive beloved formats such as vinyl, radio, and personal audio while enhancing their practicality for today’s users.

    A Legacy of Innovation

Philips has been pivotal in transforming home audio since the introduction of the Miniwatt Radio Tube in the 1920s. Throughout its history, the brand has rolled out cassette tapes, CDs, and even some of the initial digital streaming solutions, influencing how audiences experience music. The Century Series takes this legacy further by updating some of its most iconic audio devices.

    Enhanced Turntables for Modern Users

The Tina (Philips V9000) stands out as the most sophisticated all-in-one turntable in this collection. It offers 120W RMS power with integrated speakers and a dedicated subwoofer. Besides playing vinyl, it features DAB+/FM radio, Bluetooth streaming, and USB playback capabilities. Constructed with an aluminum die-cast platter and anti-vibration technology, it minimizes sound distortion. Users can fine-tune bass and treble levels, connect wired headphones through a 6.3mm jack, and manage the system via an app. It also boasts Bluetooth 5.3 with Auracast for a seamless wireless streaming experience.

    An Accessible Turntable Option

The Stevie (Philips V3000) provides a simpler turntable experience, perfect for those unfamiliar with vinyl or seeking an easier setup. It incorporates a three-speed belt-driven mechanism, built-in 12W RMS speakers, and a replaceable Audio Technica MM cartridge. Supporting Bluetooth 5.4 streaming, it also has a 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening. Similar to the Tina, the Stevie can be controlled through an app, allowing users to connect external Bluetooth speakers for an expanded sound landscape.

    Versatile and Compact Radio

The Janet (Philips V2000) is a DAB+/FM radio crafted to be easily portable from one room to another. With dimensions of 180mm x 100mm x 60mm, it delivers clear and balanced audio through a 5W RMS speaker and a 2.5-inch full-range driver. The device comes equipped with a 2.4-inch color display, touch-sensitive buttons, and a large control knob for easy tuning. It also functions as an alarm clock, featuring a sleep timer and two alarms. Supporting Bluetooth 5.3 streaming, it allows users to play music from their mobile devices.

    Eco-Friendly Features

The battery offers 16 hours of playback time and fully recharges within 3.5 hours. Philips has designed the Janet using recycled plastics, plastic-free packaging, and a removable battery, making it an eco-conscious choice.

    Retro Headphones with Modern Features

The Freddie (SHP9500CY) is a wired, open-back headphone aimed at home listening. It features sizeable 50mm neodymium drivers that create a broad, natural sound. Built for comfort during long sessions, it includes a steel headband with a cushioned layer, breathable ear pads, and a detachable 3-meter cable for user convenience.

A Nod to the Past with Modern Touches

The Ringo (Philips H2000) draws inspiration from the lightweight, portable headphones of the 1980s but incorporates contemporary features. It comes in three color options: Deep Black, Crystal Teal, and Silk White. The Ringo is equipped with 40mm drivers, wireless Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, and a battery life of 20 hours. A quick charge can provide six hours of playback in just 15 minutes. It also includes an AI-powered microphone for clear phone conversations and integrates with the Philips Headphones app for additional settings.
