Casio has been dropping more hints about the new G-Shock GAV-01 watch, sharing promotional videos on Weibo. There have been whispers about this model for a while now, with expectations that it will debut in China pretty soon.

It’s been confirmed that there are four different model numbers indicating various colors: GAV-01-1A, GAV-01-2A, GAV-01-8A, and GAV-01A-9A. Additionally, rumors suggest there might be a fifth limited edition or collaboration model, as per morgan_gshock on Instagram. However, it’s still uncertain what makes this model unique compared to the others.
Design and Features
Casio has not officially shown off the GAV-01’s design or features yet. Still, they’ve dropped some hints in two videos on Weibo, both featuring a new mascot called CoolEyes. One of the videos depicts the mascot entering a stadium, which could imply that there may be some game-related functionality. The design of the stadium might also give clues about the shape of the watch’s case bezel. In the second video, the marketing footage mentions the letter V, which adds a layer of mystery to the watch’s name. The hashtag ‘OpenVWorld’ doesn’t help clarify what this letter refers to, with Geegshock speculating it might mean “Virtual.”
Special Packaging
The CoolEyes mascot is also included in the packaging for the GAV-01. A special edition box is set to be offered to the first 1,000 customers in China, but the exact release date is still up in the air. It’s also unclear when or if this new G-Shock GAV-01 will be available in other regions.
