One of Anbernic’s new gaming handhelds has made another appearance online as it heads towards a likely worldwide launch. In particular, NITTRX has discovered fresh images of the RG406H, which was first seen online in late October.
New Images Emerge
This time around, someone has posted pictures of the unreleased device showing its front, back, and the display powered on. In brief, the RG406H looks similar to the RG CubeXX that was released nearly a month ago. Nevertheless, it is expected to perform similarly to the RG Cube and the RG406V (currently priced at $229.99 on Amazon), which is the foundation for the RG406H’s design.
Specifications and Features
As indicated by one of the images below, Anbernic has fitted the RG406H with a 5,000 mAh Li-Po battery (3.8 V) that allows for 10 W charging. Therefore, this device will be on par with the RG406V in this aspect. Moreover, the same image shows that Anbernic has added ergonomic grips on the back, deep triggers, and two vents designed for the RG406H’s compact cooling system.

Typically, Anbernic puts out a new gadget each month. But this October, they’re doing things a bit differently. Just a week ago, they launched the RG CubeXX (currently priced at $119.99 on Amazon) worldwide.
New Arrival: RG P01
Now, it’s time for the RG P01, which will have a special starting price until November 12. This date also marks the start of shipping for pre-sale orders. The controller will be priced at no more than $17.99, yet it has a lot of features that many similar devices don’t offer.
Connectivity and Features
The RG P01 supports various connectivity options, including 2.4 GHz wireless, wired, and Bluetooth through the Bluetooth 5.3 standard. For clarity, these options provide polling rates of 200 Hz, 400 Hz, and 150 Hz, respectively. Anbernic RG406H Leaked: 720p Display and PS2 Emulation Expected
Anbernic is getting ready to launch yet another handheld for retro gaming, probably before the year wraps up. To give you some background, not much time has passed since their last release, the RG406V (currently priced at $226.99 on Amazon). In the meantime, they’ve introduced the RG CubeXX as a less expensive option compared to the RG Cube. Additionally, they are set to launch their first wireless controller tomorrow.
New Model in the Works
Recently, a leak has hinted at a horizontal version of the RG406V being developed. This new model, referred to as the RG406H, is believed to be the same gadget that was earlier called the RG406P. The RG406H features a horizontal design that initially looks a lot like the RG Cube, given its d-pad, joystick, and ABXY button setup.
Specs and Features
Expectations are that the RG406H will come with a 4-inch IPS display in a 4:3 aspect ratio, delivering a 720p resolution. If the RG406H maintains the same specifications as the RG406V, it will operate on Android 13, powered by a 5,500 mAh battery, along with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage.

Anbernic RG P01 Launches with Hall Effect Joysticks Under $15
Anbernic has officially announced the release date for its very first controller, marking it as its second product launch this month following the RG CubeXX. This news comes less than two weeks after the core specifications of the RG P01 were shared by Anbernic. Alongside this, the pricing for the RG P01 has also been revealed.
Pricing Details
As per RetroHandhelds, the introductory price for Anbernic’s controller will be set at $14.99, which will increase to $17.99 once pre-orders start shipping on November 12. This means that the RG P01 will significantly undercut the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C, which is currently priced at $29.99 on Amazon and offers Bluetooth and wireless capabilities. It’s worth mentioning that the wired version of the Ultimate 2C is available for $19.99, making it $10 cheaper than the wireless model.
Features of the RG P01
Similar to the Ultimate 2C, the RG P01 is equipped with Hall effect joysticks and triggers. RetroHandhelds’ review indicates that the RG P01 does not experience the cardinal snapping issue found in some recent Anbernic handhelds. Additionally, unlike the Ultimate 2C, the RG P01 features two rear-mounted buttons labeled M1 and M2. Anbernic plans to launch the RG P01 at 10:00 UTC on October 29. Anbernic RG ArcXX Leaks Reveal Potential Specs and Features
Almost a year has gone since Anbernic launched the RG Arc in both D and S versions (curr. $68.99 on Amazon). But the company hasn’t just sat back and done nothing regarding new hardware.
Instead, Anbernic has been rolling out new devices every month since January, with the latest being the RG CubeXX released earlier this week. Recently, there have been whispers on Bilibili suggesting that Anbernic might be gearing up to replace the RG Arc with a new model called the RG ArcXX.
Expectations for the RG ArcXX
Right now, the buzz around Anbernic’s upcoming gaming handheld seems to be pretty low. It appears that the main change would be swapping the Rockchip RK3566 found in the RG Arc-S and RG Arc-D for the Allwinner H700.
If this is true, the RG ArcXX would likely deliver similar performance as the previous model, while keeping the same 4-inch screen and 480p resolution. At this point, it’s still unclear whether Anbernic plans to offer both single and dual-boot options this time, or if they have any other improvements in mind. Anbernic has had a pretty subdued beginning to this month, at least when we look at their usual pace. To summarize, their most recent launch was the RG406V, which is currently priced at $234.98 on Amazon and came out in the middle of September. Since then, there have been numerous whispers about new products from Anbernic, including new wireless controllers, the RG408, RG406P, or even a variation of the RG Cube.
Exciting Announcements
Now, at least two of these products have become official. Anbernic has recently introduced a new version of the RG Cube and a new set of wireless controllers. It’s important to note that, for the time being, they have only provided information on the RG Cube. The wireless controllers can be seen around 3:30 in the video shared below, and they closely resemble the 8BitDo’s Ultimate 2C, aligning with recent leaks.

According to Anbernic’s description linked to the same video, it appears that the RG CubeXX Classic might actually share more features with the latest RG35XX series than its predecessor.
